The Renowned Hand and Upper Extremity Specialist of Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Selected for the Prestigious List after Peer Nominations and Review of Accomplishments
HOUSTON – One of the youngest Chiefs of Staff at a leading Houston medical facility and hand specialist of Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Willowbrook, Dr. Korsh Jafarnia has now been recognized on Texas Monthly magazine’s prestigious lists of leaders and innovators in their field, Texas Super Doctors.
The 2009 list was recently revealed in the December issue of Texas Monthly and comes after a year-long nomination and review process conducted by Key Professional Media.
Chief of Staff at the Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Northwest Houston, Dr. Jafarnia is one of the few hand and upper extremity specialists recognized in Houston as a Texas Super Doctor. His work with young athletes suffering from school sports injuries and specialized treatments for both carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes has helped to firmly distinguish Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Northwest Houston.
“I am honored to be recognized by my colleagues for work I hope contributes to raising the overall quality of care in orthopedic medicine,” said Dr. Jafarnia, who is also a member of the Houston Methodist Medical Executive Committee.
“To see your patients excel after an injury is the greatest reward. To have your peers recognize your work in this way is humbling,” he added.
Dr. Jafarnia studied innovative techniques in hand surgery at the French Institute for Hand Surgery in Paris and completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School, before working with top hand, wrist and elbow specialists at Baylor College of Medicine – where he received the Teaching Excellence, the Bronze Hammer and the Leonard Marmor Surgical Arthritis Foundation awards. He is currently a clinical assistant professor at Baylor.
Specializing in hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions at KSF Orthopaedic Center in Houston for over seven years, Dr. Jafarnia has refined many of the techniques used for hand, wrist and elbow injuries and conditions seen today.
Dr. Jafarnia is a member of the Ethics Committee at Houston Northwest Medical Center and a volunteer staff member at the Shriners Hospitals for Children™.
A fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Dr. Jafarnia is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Hand Surgery.
