We are thrilled to share that our recent Pitching Mechanics and Injury Prevention Seminar was a fantastic success! Hosted by Houston Methodist for the Post Oak Little League Association, the clinic brought together coaches, parents, and players eager to learn from leading experts in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Korsh Jafarnia, Orthopedic Surgery, Hand & Upper Extremity specialist, along with Dr. F. Alex Schroeder, Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Houston Methodist physical therapist Derek Piszczek, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS, offered invaluable insights into proper pitching techniques and cutting-edge strategies to help reduce the risk of arm injuries.
The interactive format allowed attendees to engage with our presenters, who demonstrated safe throwing mechanics and shared practical tips for strengthening shoulders, elbows, and wrists—key to preventing overuse injuries. Participants left with a better understanding of warm-up exercises, recovery methods, and ongoing maintenance programs crucial for young athletes.
In addition to expert presentations, the seminar featured a lively Q&A session where coaches and parents brought up real-world concerns regarding player development. The speakers addressed everything from early-season training to in-game pitching limits, emphasizing how thoughtful, research-based practices can make all the difference in a player’s career.
We are grateful for everyone who joined us and contributed to the success of this special event. If you missed the seminar or have further questions, please contact Bene Barrera at 832.522.8446 for more information.
