Dr. Jafarnia Joins the Faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College as Assistant Professor for Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery – Helps Shape the Next Generation of Medical Specialists
HOUSTON – Dr. Korsh Jafarnia, hand and upper extremity specialist at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine joins the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College – accepting a recent appointment as assistant professor for clinical orthopaedic surgery.
Serving as a clinical assistant professor of Baylor College of Medicine for the past 11 years, Dr. Jafarnia will now in his Weill Cornell appointment also serve in an expanded academic capacity, training orthopedic residents in clinical practice and disciplines.
Specializing in injuries and conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow, Dr. Jafarnia is annually recognized by some of the medical community’s most prominent listings of top physicians, including Castle Connolly, US News & World Report and Newsweek.
Among the youngest chiefs of staff for Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and the former vice president of KSF Orthopedic Surgery Center, Dr. Jafarnia speaks regularly within the community and leads residents at both the Houston Methodist Willowbrook and Texas Medical Center facilities.

Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Jafarnia studied advanced techniques in hand surgery at the French Institute for Hand Surgery in Paris before completing a residency program at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He has a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Surgery of the Hand.

At the Hand Center located on the Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital campus, Dr. Jafarnia specializes in hand and upper extremity trauma as well as common conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, and trigger finger. He provides complex joint reconstruction and fracture repair as well as minimally invasive endoscopic, arthroscopic and PRP (platelet rich plasma) procedures and injection therapies for more rapid recovery times.
